Kick Up Your Cowboy Boots at the 30th Annual Texaco Country Showdown

Seven country music bands from the Omaha area will be dusting off their cowboy boots for their performances at Bushwackers for the 30th Annual Texaco Country Showdown on July 8, 2011. Matt and Ben from Twister 93.3 will be the night's hosts and Fort Western Stores is supplying the grand prize for one lucky performer or band.

The bands have been preselected and will perform one of their songs for a panel of judges. One of these performers will be chosen to go on to the Nebraska State final at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island on August 27, 2011. The winner will also receive a grand prize $1,000 gift card from The Fort. The gift card may be used at Fort Western's retail stores or online, towards the purchase of western wear, saddles, tack and more.

The Texaco Country Showdown is an annual competition that focuses on highlighting undiscovered country musicians from around the United States. The contest culminates at the National Final to be held at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, TN. Here contestants will compete not only for the "The Best New Act in Country Music" title but also for $100,000.

Just last year Nebraska native Reggie Shaw, of Grand Island, made it to the national show in Nashville, where Arkansas' Jaclyn North took home the title and prize.

The Fort is excited to offer a hand in one person's dream to become the next best new act in country music, and can't wait to see who comes out on top in Omaha. So break out your dancing boots and hit the floor at Bushwackers as we all hear some country music stars in the making.
