Fort Western Special Guest Dale Chavez Saddles

Dale Chavez will be at the Fort Western Outfitters on Friday, April 30th from noon - 8pm and Saturday, May 1st from 9am - 4pm with a complete line of saddles and tack and to answer questions. The 2 day event offers Fort Customers a unique opportunity to buy direct from Dale and receive Fort preferred customer pricing. Chavez will have on display over 20 show and reining saddles, show and crystal bling tack and show halters.

Dale Chavez has been involved in custom-made saddles and other horse-related products for the past 35 years. Over this time he has developed new products and silver patterns that have gained attention in many different equine sports.

Not only do his silver products shine on their own as trophy buckles and conchos, they also accentuate the custom leather goods he builds. Dale Chavez buckles and saddles are awarded at horse shows, reiners, rodeo and team roping events, as well as at Arab national events. For 15 years he produced the Average winner saddles in each event for Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. He also produced the world champion buckles for each event in the Womens Professional Rodeo Association Rodeo.

Awards are only a fraction of his market. He is often called upon to do custom work for a variety of people associated with the equine industry. Dale Chavez Companys saddle makers and silversmiths produce products that are shipped to all parts of the United States as well as internationally. Both unique and true to the Western Motif, his celebrated artworks in leather and silver have graced huge events and superstars. With movies now being made in New Mexico, Chavez says he receives many calls from the productions and stars to use his saddles and tack on the sets.

Mr. Chavez is a native of the Southwest Albuquerque, New Mexico to be precise. I proudly say Im from New Mexico roots with friends and relatives still residing there, Chavez said. Thirty-nine years ago I had the opportunity to move to Temecula, California, and work on a ranch with horse trainer Joe Alexander from Corrales, New Mexico. It was then that I became familiar with braided reins, headstalls, etc., and came to appreciate the beauty and versatility of braided items.

At that time, Temecula consisted of large ranches and horse farms.
The railroad purchased a large chunk of land and began subdividing for development.

It was a million miles from nowhere, and with that being the case, the developers had to draw people in, Chavez said. So they had rodeos and other horse events on the weekends to bring them to the area and show people the land and opportunities.

Chavez began by building simple items such as halters. That eventually grew into an enormous demand for custom products. His dedication to building high-quality products made his reputation as a creator of premier items awarded to the best in the business. Now I have a complete in-house operation on 25 acres, he explained.

Chavez also actively competes at local roping. Theres a roping arena on site as well, so Chavez stays active in the sport.

Stop by Fort Western Outfitters this Friday or Saturday for all your western wear needs and a unique opportunity to see the impressive selection of Dale Chavez Saddles and Tack.
